Count Czapski sold his Russian collection in 1884 to Grand Duke George Michailovich Romanov. Czapski's collection experienced various fortunes; now, part of it is to be found in the Smithsonian Institution, in the State Hermitage in
St. Petersburg, and State Historical Museum in Moscow. Specimens from his collection are easily identified by Czapski's miniature die consisting of the letter 'C' with the family coat of arms Leliwa (star and half-moon).

This very interesting coin requires more research.

This is a Novodel issue of an excessively rare rejected Pattern Rouble. Coin dies were executed by Jacob Reichel, who, two years earlier, was responsible for sketches of the celebrated Rouble of Constantine.
This coin was among forty-four famous Russian coins presented in Grande Duke Georgii Mikhailovich's book "Description and illustration of some Rare coins in my collection", St. Petersburg, 1886, # 36.
